this is great news in the alzheimer's world.est to look for the presence of plaques in the brain. this is different from existing blood tests on the markets. existing blood tests were meant to be used in conjunction with pet scanning for spinal taps. this blood test may just need the blood test alone to be able to have early detection of alzheimer's foregoing the pet scan and spine always that are expensive. they looked at 499 plasma samples. what they found is if they were found to have a positive ratio 92% of those patients had evidence of the amyloid plaques on the pet scan or looking at the spinal fluid. negative, 97% had no evidence. there is a good likelihood there are alzheimer's disease if there were plaques. negative predictive value. if it was negative a high likelihood there is no evidence of disease. it's very crucial for these early detections of alzheimer's. there are also fda approved treatments that when you have early intervention and treatments it is not going to prevent the disease but slow the progression and
