cnn senior white house correspondent kristen holmes joins us now. so, kristen, what more did president trump say in this social media message? >> well, he made it very clear that there is no imminent peace agreement on the table. i mean, just a reminder, the direct talks between ukraine and russia happened. again, this was not zelenskyy and putin, but the two countries happened monday in istanbul. donald trump, his team had been watching to see what came out of those talks. they had told me that they were actually happy that this actually happened, saying that donald trump was the only reason that there was actual direct talks between the countries. but clearly here, trump stating that not only was a peace deal not imminent, but that we should expect retaliation from putin when it comes to those attacks. so something we're watching closely now, the other thing that was in this post was donald trump seemingly saying that putin had offered to help him create a deal with iran. this is what he says on this part. he says we alys we also discussed the fac

cnn's kristen holmes is at the white house. manu, this meeting that's going on right now between president trump and republicans, what were you hearing ahead of it about what they may be asking for, how they thread this needle right now? >> yeah, the senate republicans actually met behind closed doors for several hours this afternoon to try to hammer out this massive, complicated, complicated plan and try to get their disagreements ironed out by the senators senate majority leader's deadline, which is to get this passed and onto trump's desk by july 4th, meaning it has to be on the floor really by the end of this month. and so by next week, then you have the bill text together. and so those differences about how deep to cut federal spending, as well as how to what to include in this massive multi-trillion dollar tax overhaul, those all need to be figured out, which is why this meeting at the white house today is critical with trump and members of the senate finance committee, which determines how to structure that key tax polic

good evening, everyone, i'm heather holmes. the naval ship honors the slain gay rights leader and navy veteran. milk was the first openly gay elected official in california when he won a seat on the san francisco board of supervisors. he was assassinated in city hall in 1978. this is video now of when the usns harvey milk was christened back in 2021. the trump administration, though, was reportedly planning to rename this ship, as well as others, including those named for thurgood marshall, harriet tubman and cesar chavez, saying that defense secretary pete hegseth is committed to having ship names reflect a warrior ethos. california officials are furious about these changes. san francisco congresswoman nancy pelosi, who was at the christening ceremony, said, quote, the reported decision by the trump administration to change the names of the usns harvey milk and other ships in the john lewis class is a shameful, vindictive erasure of those who fought to break down barriers for all to chase the american dream. she goes on to say

i'm heather holmes. this is where the activity in san jose was centered today near chavez supermarket on blossom hill road. u.s. immigration and customs enforcement tell ktvu that several people several arrests were made today and yesterday as part of this same operation. the agency says no arrests were made at the market or in the parking lot. the market, though, was used as a secondary processing location. san jose mayor matt mehan released a statement saying he does not have information about the ongoing operation, adding the city's police department does not carry out federal immigration enforcement. and ice spokesperson, though, telling ktvu that those arrested had executable executable, final orders of removal by an immigration judge and had not complied with that order. ice did not say how many people were taken into custody during this operation. the agency says this was not a random raid, rather, they were going after specific people in livermore tonight, people rallied behind the family of this

i'm heather holmes, and the giant canvas pink triangle is coming back on twin peaks. sky fox high above. today, as volunteers started putting the triangle together. it spans nearly an acre on the hillside and once completed, it will be visible from up to 20 miles away. the symbol was originally used by nazis to identify and shame gay prisoners. since then, though, gay rights advocates have reclaimed the emblem and turned it into a symbol of pride and resilience. and joining me now live tonight is patrick carney, who hoisted the very first pink triangle there atop twin peaks back in 1995. and you did so in the in the dead of night, right? >> it started out as a renegade crafts project, and we didn't know until later that people didn't know what it meant. so then we kept it going and started the commemoration ceremonies. so it's gone from insurgent to mainstream. now. we have the mayor of san francisco attending it. yeah, it's really exciting. >> i mean, the triangle has certainly grown a lot since then. did you have any idea how iconic this display would become? >> non

i'm heather holmes. it was quite the scare for people in fairfield today. as you take a look at these aerial pictures, you can see the flames inching toward their homes. the fire broke out just before five this evening. we received an update just about an hour ago. some good news. firefighters have stopped forward progress, and that evacuation order for this area has now been lifted. let's get straight to this developing story and our zac sos, who is live for us tonight in fairfield and zach, i imagine many people, they're relieved tonight. >> very relieved to give you a sense of just how close this firefight came to area. area homes over my shoulder. you can probably make out the fire retardant blanketed area roofs, cars, the flames. fortunately not making it to these structures. but they did come close, as you mentioned, forward progress on this fire stopped just after six at some 62 acres. take a look at this video. earlier winds dry brush helping to feed these flames in fairfield, prompting an evacuation order for several neighborhoods off of hills road
